I am resending this newsletter because at least half
of our people didn't get the first one. I was trying an automated mailing
list manager but evidently the mail sender doesn't work very well. The
reason for the change was so that members could subscribe and unsubscribe
without having to contact me. So back to the old
system...
Saturday's Ride - we will be doing the classic Bennett out and
back from the Airport P&R at 40th and Salida Street. Flat and about 36 miles
round trip. Usually there is wind. But that is what pacelining is
for!!!
Sunday's Ride - Show & Go from the Ken Caryl P&R.
Basically, show up, ride away from your car, then ride back. About 25-30
miles.
All Nov rides start at 10:45. Go to www.rmccrides.com for
directions to the start locations.
The Advanced Core Fitness clinic was
fabulous. Our facilitator, Carol Wood, knows cycling and knows pilates even
better. I don't think I've ever exercised so much and moved so little.
Personally, I learned about a flawed movement that I have. When I pull my
shoulders back to correct my posture I tend to shrug my shoulders which closes
my chest back up a little. On Sunday's ride I concentrated on opening up my
chest without shrugging and there was a slight, but noticable, improvement in my
breathing.
Midlife Cycling is part of Midlife Sports. So far we have
focused on cycling but a lot of us like other outdoor activities also. Last ride
we talked about some organized snowshoeing that we might be able to go on. Also,
I have a wonderful friend who is an expert at a variety of backcountry
activities. I'll be working with her to put together some backcountry ski
trips.
I upgraded my road bike recently. Bought a cyclocross frame and
put the old hardware on that. I've been motoring around on the Highline Canal
trail and am ready for some easy single-track. Let me know if you'd be
interested in riding sometime. Just don't take me out and break my collar
bone.
The online store is coming together well. Got all the kinks ironed
out of the payment system. Now I'm in the process of adding the
products/services. Seminars and clinics will go in first. Also, you will be able
to join/renew your RMCC membership online. Prices will be discounted for RMCC
members. For example, if you don't register and log in you will see a seminar
for $50. Once you log in as an RMCC member you will see $40. There will be a
slight delay in the signup process as I will have to verify names against the
RMCC membership roster.
I've put in a consignment area for anyone who has
any parts or accessories they would like to sell off. Mainly things too small to
list on eBay. Perhaps they will never sell or you won't get much but you never
know. It will be a great, low-cost way for newbies to get into
cycling.
Speaking of eBay, I have an eBay/Paypal system already set up
for my other company. So if you have only one or a few items you want to get rid
of, but don't want to go to the bother of setting up this system, feel free to
contact me and I will list it for you.
It takes time, but eventually I
will make everything so complex you will get hopelessly confused and give up
cycling. See you next weekend or at the Cycling Physiology seminar Thur
night.
