Training Overview...

We realize that it is often difficult to jump into something you know little about with both feet. So the program is designed for you to start off at whatever level is comfortable and build at your own pace.

Newsletter - each week we send out a newsletter mainly intended to keep you engaged in the program and feel connected to other members. It is free so sign up on the right hand side of this page.

Self-Study - this area contains everything from free papers and fitness calculators, low-cost whitepapers, audio programs on CD or download, and our flagship product the DVD training series.

Seminars - that part of the season where the days are short and the weather is cold is a great time to put on our academic hats and learn some of the theory that the program is based on. While papers, audio, and video products cover most of this information, a seminar provides a great opportunity to have an actual discussion with a coach and other Midlife Cycling members.

Clinics - the cost of one-on-one training can be out of reach for many cyclists. Clinics are a way to share this cost with other people and receive most of the benefits of personal training. We keep the groups small with a minimum of 6 and maximum of 12 participants per session.

Assessments - before you can improve your riding you need to assess where your strengths and weaknesses are. These are 1 1/2 to 2 hour indoor or road tests to determine such things as your bike fit, pedaling technique, bike handling, heart rate zones, and more.

Coaching - just the word can invoke images of discomfort and never ending expense when your personal performance is put under the magnifying glass of a larger-than-life authority figure. Let me personally assure you that what I just mentioned is everything I detest about fitness training and the reason I believe most people never achieve their true potential. Also, you do not have to commit to any long-term contracts or purchase blocks of time. Use for anything from an annual check-up to a workout partner three days a week.

E-mail Coaching Programs - we do not offer any e-mail coaching programs. We believe that if you know enough to self-correct then you can just pick up training ideas from books, magazines, websites, and other public resources. A coach really needs to ride with you periodically if you want to get the most benefit from this extra expense.
