Seminars and Clinics are scheduled throughout the training
season depending upon where the information is appropriate.
Here are a few of our standard events. Click here to go
to the store for a current list and to sign up for an event
or for more information.
Seminars
"Getting
Started" - Follow our successes and don't
repeat our mistakes. Learn the basics of cycling and how
to develop a training program specific to you and where
to spend your cycling dollars so you will get the most benefit.
"Cycling
Physiology" - Cycling physiology is different from
any other sport because the bike supports our weight and
we can use gears to change the workload. Learn about your
body's three energy systems, how it adapts to exercise,
and how we designed the Midlife Cycling training program
to achieve specific fitness results.
"Cycling
Nutrition" - Learn how your body converts food
to energy. Incorrect eating, on or off the bike, may be
limiting your performance instead of poor conditioning.
You will learn how to determine which foods, sports drinks,
gels, and other nutrients are best for your body and riding.
We recommend that you take the "Cycling Physiology"
seminar or watch the physiology DVD before taking this seminar.
Clinics
"Climbing"
- climbing well is what separates the elite cyclist from
the ordinary. Along the Front Range it is essential to be
comfortable climbing if you want to ride the most scenic
parts of Colorado. And, what goes up must come down, so
we will also work on descending with high-speed cornering.
"Speed"
- long, slow riding produces long, slow cyclists. Real cycling
is an active sport much like a tennis game is relative to
hitting the ball against a wall. You need explosive acceleration
and precise bike handling at high speed. The famous "interval
training" is used to build this conditioning. Done
incorrectly, intervals can actually hurt your conditioning
so come and learn to do them properly.
For Women Only
- climbing and speed clinics can quickly turn into a testosterone-fest.
Or, you may be afraid that you might ask a "stupid
question." The Midlife Cycling Women's Only clinics
are not watered-down versions of the standard clinics. The
information is just taught from a different perspective
and a more group/nurturing environment. After all, a lot
of our men clients come to us only after their wife or girlfriend
start riding better than them.
