The goal of this
program is to help you develop above-average health and
fitness that you can sustain for the rest of your life.
The training is not intended for competitive cycling though
it would provide a great endurance base to help you get
started.
We
loosely define "midlife" as the ages between 35
and 65. However, if you are 25, just married, working on
a career, and/or expecting a child, you my friend are living
a middle-aged lifestyle.
Most
of us don't get a regular breakfast or lunch so how can
health and fitness "experts" expect us to get
a regular workout in? The Midlife Cycling program is based
on the concept of "irregular exercise" with the
idea that any exercise is better than none. You will be
amazed at how much training you can fit in by doing an exercise
set here-and-there throughout the day.
Training
is boring. That is the reality for most people. We believe
that in the limited time you have for recreation you should
do the things that are fun and interesting to you. At the
same time we believe you can obtain maximum fitness benefits
if you understand how to cycle properly.
We
are not cycling fanatics. Many of us like to run, ski, snowshoe,
hike, and more. Cycling provides the basic fitness for these
other sports and life in general.
Finally,
a lot of us have some "Type A" energy to burn
off. These rides are not for sissy-marys. You can't imagine
how much pleasure my mid-50 cycling women get from riding
better than other people half their age.
We are the official training resource for the Rocky Mountain Cycling Club whose members include two Race Across America winners..
